Trauma changes lives.
Trauma has a significant impact on a survivors emotional and physical health. Many develop Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which changes the way they relate to themselves and the world around them. Other survivors also battle depression, anxiety and insomnia. They are at significant risk of developing addictions to drugs, alcohol and food, as this helps them numb the pain of their trauma. Most survivors cannot recover on their own. They need help to recover from these after effects. And yet there is a significant lack of trauma informed mental help professionals around the globe. The International Association of Trauma Recovery Coaching exists to change that by certifying coaches and educating all other professionals about how to provide trauma informed care to their clients.
