THE ADVANCED TRAUMA RECOVERY COACHING CERTIFICATION

Earning your Advanced Certification is a next step in Certified Trauma Recovery Coaching development. You MUST have completed your Initial Certified Trauma Recovery course to enroll in an Advanced Course. The Advanced course builds upon the foundation taught in the Initial CTRC courses. Trauma Recovery Coaching is unlike any other type of coaching. Without the understanding of this methodology, taught in the Initial Course, the Advanced Coaching skills cannot be mastered.

Our CTRC-A coaches can work with more complex cases because they have additional training and supervised skill development. There are other perks, as well:

  • Being listed ahead of the Initial Certification Coaches in The International Association of Trauma Recovery Coaching directory

  • Demonstrating to potential clients that you have greater education and more experience beyond the initial foundational knowledge

  • Preferential status for being invited to become a Coach Mentor

  • The ability to move into the Certified Supervisor Trauma Recovery Coaching training program — which allows you to provide Supervision in 1-to-1 and group formats to private clients as well as having opportunities within the Association to earn an income serving as Practice Group and Supervision Group facilitators and filling paid leadership roles.

Our Advanced Certification Courses are taught Two times a year.

Each Advanced Class accepts no more than 14 students before closing registration. At this level of education we focus on experiential education, which relies on greater student coach involvement and providing significant opportunity to practice in order to develop more complex coaching skills.

Our Advanced Certification classes are taught online and over the course of three weekends, each held across three months so that there is a three to four week break between each set of classes.

Course Time Commitment

All courses are taught within our Zoom classroom. The Advanced Class is very experiential. Almost all work is done within the course. There are no extra Practice Groups. There is some homework assignments that are given to complete outside of class. Other “homework” and class projects are completed during the day’s scheduled meeting time.

Course Schedule

Each day of class is a full day. We typically follow this schedule (all times are EST)

  • Gather 11:00am

  • Break 12:15pm

  • Lunch 1:30pm

  • Reconvene 2:30pm

  • Break 3:45pm

  • Dismiss 5pm

Course Content

The class will be a mixture of learning new content, incorporating that content into what you already know, and practicing your coaching skills. Content areas we will cover are:

  • The Neurobiology of Attunement

  • How to Nurture Right Brained Neurodevelopment in Coaching

  • Family System’s Theory

  • Internal Family Systems

Certification Requirements

  • Completion of the Advanced Certification Course

  • Obtain 12 Credits of Continuing Education Courses since completing Initial Course

  • 100 hours of client coaching

  • 30 hours of Supervision (25 group, 5 individual)

  • Written and Oral Examination

  • Complete the Certification Requirements within 18 months from Course Start Date

Attendance Requirements

Please note that, unlike with the coursework portion of the Initial Course, there is an attendance requirement for the Advanced Course. You must be present, with your camera on and actively engaged in the class, 80% of the course hours. There are 30 hours of coursework, so therefore you must be present for 24 hours of the class. This is because the course is highly experiential and also depends heavily upon the interaction and discussion amongst the students and instructors. If you are not present for that number of hours you will not receive credit for completing that semesters Advanced Course and will need to re-enroll and repeat it at a later date.

The course will be recorded so if you have to miss a few hours, less than 20%, you can catch up on the course material by watching the course replays.

Payment plans will have a monthly $25.00 processing fee added. Please email helpdesk@iaotrc.com if you have any questions or need to change the date your payments are deducted. $700 deposit (to hold your spot) and six installments of $408 ($383 + $25 processing fee) due every 30 days.

*Failure to set up automatic payments will result in the student being removed from the course and forfeiting any refund.

**Certification will not be granted if students do not pay their course tuition in full. If students complete all other requirements and the course tuition has not been paid in full, and a student wasn’t removed from the course, their certification will be held until payment is made in full. If payment is not made in full within 18 months from the start date of the course, students will forfeit certification rights and all payments made.
